Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has announced plans to commence the second phase of the multi-billion naira Danja Dam project, with a strategic focus on expanding irrigation infrastructure to boost agricultural productivity in the region.

The announcement came during an empowerment programme launch at the Danja Local Government Secretariat, where N20 million in support funds were donated by Hon. Shamsuddeen Abubakar, the Leader of the Katsina State House of Assembly.

"Our administration recognizes the agricultural potential of Danja and its surrounding communities," stated Governor Radda. "The second phase of the Danja Dam project will prioritize irrigation development to support our dedicated farming communities and enhance their productivity."

The Governor also commended Hon. Abubakar's empowerment initiative, which provided crucial support to various sectors of the local economy.

The empowerment programme, initiated by Hon. Shamsuddeen Abubakar Dabai, distributed 120 chemical sprayers, 50 units each of sewing machines, water pumps, and noodle-making machines, along with wheelbarrows and pesticides.

Hon. Shamsudeen Dabai explained the initiative targeted women and youth groups who are into farming and herding, tailoring, mechanics and other small scale businesses. "Those who were not included in this edition of the empowerment would be considered in the subsequent programme to ensure the support goes round," Hon. Dabai assured constituents.

During the event, Alhaji Rabo Tambaya Danja, the Local Government Chairman, announced plans to construct an office facility for the newly trained Community Watch Corps personnel.

The Sarkin Kudun Katsina and District Head of Danja, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Bature, expressed gratitude for the administration's efforts in combating banditry and requested the upgrade of Danja Comprehensive Health Care Center to a general hospital.
